What Customers Say About Humminbird PiranhaMax 215 Fish Finder:

We leave our boat outside 1000 miles away, and this fishfinder is great to keep in the house and to quickly hook up before hopping in the boat, and at a great price
I was not overly impressed with the performance of the soundings. I would give the fish finder a solid OK not bad. This unit worked ok. The suction was not the best I was able to locate fish and I did get fish were I did not expect too and I used the fish finder to locate those fish.
I also bought a padded carrying bag for $15 at a local shop and that keeps everything safe and in one place. I bought a SONY charger and 8 NiMH AA batteries to go with it.[ASIN:B000OOQ7MW Sony BCG-34HVE4 Quick Battery Charger with Car Kit]. This is a very good portable fish finder for the price. Logical pre-sets and user friendly set-up and use make it my best choice. I can use the AA batteries in other devices when I'm not fishing so I didn't mind the cost.
A great product that I would defintely purchase again. It provided accurate bottom readings, showed weed beds, and our fishing success defintely increased when fish were visible on the screen. I bought this depthfinder for a recent flyout fishing trip to Canada and was extremely happy with the unit's performance. The setup and operation is very straightforward and it worked well the entire trip (4 10+ hour days) and ended with plenty of battery life to spare (uses 8 AA batteries). My only suggestion for travelers would be to buy some sort of small carrying case to put the unit in for protection if checking your bags.
When the batteries wear out I will probably wait until I reach shore to change them in the small boat. I am still using my first set of batteries. I have had it out 3 or 4 times and I have had it on for 10 to 12 hours. The battery compartment is water tight and held closed with screws. I needed a depth sounder for a small sailboat but I didn't have an electrical system on board. This fish finder fit the bill perfectly. This kit uses standard components and can be converted later for a permanent installation if I ever upgrade my electrical system.
